Macmillan Speed Shear - Another Fundraiser?!
We have teamed up with ‘The Corner Collective’ - A local crafts shop in Builth Wells to organise another fundraiser in aid of Macmillan cancer support. We will be braving the shave in Builth Rugby Club, November 11th at 2pm. The aim is to get as many people to brave the shave with us too. We are calling the fundraiser - ‘Macmillan Speed Shear’. So join our flock and get your head shaved with us. The goal is for each participant to try and raise at least £50 each.
We will be setting up a donation link shortly so stay tuned!
There will also be a collection in pot in The corner collective shop for any cash donations. (Address below)
Cancer is a formidable adversary, affecting millions of lives worldwide. The physical and emotional challenges that come with a cancer diagnosis can be overwhelming, but so too can the financial burden. Macmillan Cancer Support, a renowned charity organization, has been a pillar of support for cancer patients and their families. In the fight against cancer, every contribution counts, and one incredible way to show your support is by participating in a "Brave the Shave" fundraiser.
What is Brave the Shave?
"Brave the Shave" is an inspiring initiative by Macmillan Cancer Support, encouraging individuals to make a bold statement in the fight against cancer by shaving their heads. While it may seem like a small gesture, it carries a profound message of solidarity with those facing the challenges of cancer.
This fundraiser is not just about shedding your locks; it's about shedding light on the incredible strength of cancer patients, their families, and the importance of supporting organizations like Macmillan. Here's how you can get involved and make a significant impact:
Why Support Macmillan Cancer Support?
Macmillan Cancer Support is a vital lifeline for people affected by cancer. They provide physical, emotional, and financial support to those who need it most. By participating in Brave the Shave, you're helping to fund essential services such as:
Specialist Nurses: Macmillan funds specialist cancer nurses who provide expert care and support to patients during their cancer journey.
Financial Assistance: The financial impact of cancer can be devastating. Macmillan offers grants and advice on benefits to help alleviate some of the financial strain.
Support Line: Macmillan's helpline is a 24/7 source of information, guidance, and a listening ear for those affected by cancer.
Cancer Information: Macmillan provides extensive resources, from booklets to online information, to help patients and their families understand and cope with cancer.
The Impact of Your Shave
By participating in a Brave the Shave fundraiser, you're not just cutting your hair; you're cutting through the fear, isolation, and financial hardship that often accompany a cancer diagnosis. Your contributions help Macmillan make a real difference in the lives of people facing cancer.
Remember, it's not the length of your hair that matters; it's the size of your heart. Join Macmillan in the fight against cancer and take a stand for those who need it most. Brave the Shave today, and together, we can make a world of difference.
Conclusion
The Brave the Shave fundraiser is a tangible way to show your support for cancer patients and their families. It's a powerful reminder that we are not alone in this fight. Macmillan Cancer Support relies on the generosity of people like you to continue their vital work. So, let's unite, be brave, and help make a difference—one shaved head at a time. Join the movement and become a symbol of strength, resilience, and hope in the face of cancer. Together, we can make a lasting impact.
Fundraiser Finished!
It all begins with an idea.
What an amazing journey it’s been. We will start by saying thank you so much to everyone that has been involved or donated. This has all been very much a team effort, and has been way bigger than we ever imagined.
We raised a massive £2480! our target was £1000 so together we smashed it!
Watching each rider finish the challenge in Cardiff is an emotional experience we will never forget. Around 230 miles covered from Holyhead in North Wales to Cardiff Bay in South Wales. We had a mixed group of cyclists but the effort from everyone was outstanding. We did have 2 punctures on day 1 but the rest was plain sailing.
Thank you to Jungle Productions for coming along and documenting the challenge been great having you, and will be amazing to watch the clips all together, capturing our best and worst moments.
Massive thank you to my mum Jessica Weale who did all the driving and who has been so involved with all the aspects of planning this trip. Couldn’t of done it without you.
Thank you to my partner Shannon Burns for supporting us all the way, helping push us on and feeding me along the way.
Thank you The Lamb and Luke Dewinton for letting us do our fundraiser evening there, setting up ice baths and helping raise more money. Your support has been amazing.
Thanks to Howdens for doing a car wash in aid of our fundraiser on their trade day. And to Wyes-Cream for the free ice cream on day 2 it was needed!
Thank you to Shane Jones for helping with the fundraiser and allows being someone we can rely on to selflessly help and support the community.
To all the businesses who donated raffle prizes thank you, we raised over £700 due to your contributions.
Thank you to John Matthews for being crazy enough to set out on any challenge with us without hesitation, and for being able to direct and look after the group so well.
Thank you to all the other riders. Carwyn Williams, Neil Dissanayake, Steve Frost, George Lloyd and to Robbie Stockton Link joining us on the last day. Couldn’t of asked for a better group of people to do the challenge with.
Thank you to Mid and North Powys Mind for supporting this challenge and being so helpful. Such a great charity, and all money raised goes to our local branch in Llandrindod Wells. The people there really are amazing.
Thank you so much to everyone that donated, we are so proud of the community and how so many people have supported us. It’s truly amazing what you can achieve when you work together.
Highway Adventures wants to be a business that inspires, motivates and is part of a community. If anyone is struggling with mental health please don’t hesitate to get in touch and we can put you in touch with Mind. We understand It’s intimidating to ask for help, but we will always be here.
Sore legs, full heart. Until the next fundraising challenge
