our recent fundraiser for Mind
Official poster for the fundraiser
In late July, my good friend John Matthews and I took on the challenge of walking from Aberystwyth to Newbridge-on-Wye in just two days, camping overnight along the way. It turned out to be one of the toughest experiences Iâve ever facedâboth mentally and physically. Just four hours in, my feet were already in agony, the weather quickly turned against us, and we pushed through 40 km a day across rough, mountainous terrain. What kept me going was the incredible cause we were walking for, Johnâs constant encouragement, and the amazing support from everyone back home.

What is Mind? - âThe leading mental health charity in England and Wales that provides support, information, and campaigns for better mental health services and rightsâ

Why do we choose to fundraise for Mind (Specifically Mid and North Powys Mind)? - We choose this charity because all money raised goes to our local branch in Llandrindod Wells. Highway Adventures strives to impact and be a part of the local community. We want to make a difference to our local area. Mind offers free services to help with mental health.
I myself have struggled with mental health, life can be very tough for all of us. Everybody at some point in their life needs support. We want to support people and this charity aligns with our core values. This is the second fundraiser we have done working with MNP Mind.
Return party held at the New Inn
We raised a total of ÂŁ2100 on this fundraiser which is incredible. Our target was ÂŁ1500. This does not happen without the support of the community. We canât thank everybody involved enough. Look at what we can achieve when we work together.
We have raised a grand total of ÂŁ4580 for Mind since we started this business which makes us incredibly proud not just of our team but of this community!

A special thank you to Sian and the guys at the New Inn pub who let us hold a quiz at their establishment and also held a party for when we completed the walk. They really helped make this fundraiser bigger and better.

Conquering the Peaks: A Triumph in the Welsh Wilderness
There's something truly special about standing on a summit, gazing out at the world below. For those who seek adventure and challenge, the Welsh 3 Peaks offer an unforgettable experience that tests both physical endurance and mental fortitude. And let me tell you, completing this monumental trek was nothing short of a triumph.
Embarking on the Welsh 3 Peaks journey is not for the faint of heart. It requires meticulous planning, unwavering determination, and a willingness to push past your limits. But oh, the rewards that await those who dare to take on the challenge!
The journey begins with Snowdon, the highest peak in Wales. Rising majestically to 1,085 meters above sea level, Snowdon is a formidable adversary. The ascent is grueling, with steep inclines and rocky terrain testing every muscle in your body. But with each step forward, you inch closer to the summit, fueled by the breathtaking scenery that surrounds you.

As you reach the peak of Snowdon, a sense of accomplishment washes over you. The panoramic views stretch as far as the eye can see, a reminder of the beauty and power of the natural world. But there's no time to linger, for the Welsh 3 Peaks challenge demands more.

Next up is Cadair Idris, a mountain steeped in legend and lore. The ascent is no less challenging than Snowdon, with rugged paths and unpredictable weather adding to the adventure. But with each peak conquered, your confidence grows, propelling you ever onward.

Finally, there's Pen y Fan, the jewel of the Brecon Beacons. The final leg of the journey is both exhilarating and exhausting, as fatigue sets in and the finish line looms on the horizon.
And then, finally, it happens. You stand atop Pen y Fan, triumphant and exhilarated, knowing that you've accomplished something truly remarkable. The sense of achievement is overwhelming, eclipsing the physical exertion and hardships endured along the way.

Completing the Welsh 3 Peaks is more than just a physical feat; it's a testament to the power of the human spirit. It's about pushing past your comfort zone, overcoming obstacles, and embracing the thrill of adventure. It's about forging lifelong memories and forming bonds that can withstand any challenge.
So to anyone considering taking on the Welsh 3 Peaks challenge, I say this: Go for it. Embrace the journey, relish the highs and lows, and celebrate every step of the way. For in the end, the view from the summit is more than worth it. Keep a look out for our next adventure!!!
